Whenever anyone talks about Football competitions in India, the first thing that comes to our mind is the Indian Super League. You must have heard that the Indian Super League 2024 is going on and let me inform you, as of now, all the matches played have been very exciting and interesting. Indian Super League is one of the most prestigious and popular Football leagues in India. The league has successfully made its positions all over the world. The primary aim of Indian Super League is to promote Football game in India.
The ISL league was popularly known and loved because the Indian Super League allowed the partnership of both foreign and Indian players. All Indian Football federations founded the ISL in the year 2013 to enhance the popularity of Football games in India.
The 1st season of ISL was played on 12th October 2014 in which eight franchise-based teams were representing different cities of India. The 1st match of the first season was played between Atlético de Kolkata and Mumbai City FC. In the very first season of ISL, only eight powerful teams participated. The names of the teams were Atlético de Kolkata, Delhi Dynamos FC, FC Goa, Chennaiyin FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Mumbai City FC, Pune City FC, and NorthEast United FC.
Some of the notable players from the 1st season were Alessandro Del Piero, Robert Pirès, David James, Elano Blumer, Luis García, and so on. The last match took place on 20th December 2014 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was played between Atlético de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters FC and the 1st trophy of Indian Super League was won by Atlético de Kolkata.
